The owner of this photo wanted a portrait of the seated couple. The figures were isolated, then slightly enlarged. The final photo was sepia (brown) toned.

Sepia toning was used by black and white photographers to create more realistic skin tones and an overall warmer picture. Sepia toning is optional in the restoration process.
